56% of US Households have a gaming console

Saw this on Kotaku today!  Half the homes across America have at least one current generation of consoles.  The survey was put together by the Nielsen Group.  That number is up 6% from last year.

Personally I think that number will continue to rise as we see consoles being more than just gaming.  With netflix, youtube, crackle, and other services starting to mix its way into our consoles, everyone is starting to see the use of having one.  Consider this, having an xbox with XBL, would mean that you would be able to play games, watch movies ( both DVD and Netflix ), watch youtube and a couple other stuff.  PS3 is easy, you have free online service, netflix, games, Bu-ray, and other stuff as well!  Does this mean there will be more girl gamers? I sure hope so!

Persona 4: The Golden

The vita is getting quite a bit of attention with games being ported over.  That is a good thing though. Persona 4: The Golden  for the Playstation Vita is a version of the Playstation 2 RPG, Persona 4.  The game will get some new content as well as a new look on the sexy Vita OLED screen.  Once a release date hits the streets, we'll update you guys!

Phantasy Star Online 2 will see a Vita Release

Satoshi Sakai, Producer for Sega, stated that the PC title Phantasy Star Online 2 is going to be released for the Playstation Vita.  He also notes that it will be possible to play in the same server as PC users, which it will use the same data.  This means that people who play on the PC can also take their characters with them on the PS Vita!  We'll see a release date leaning towards a 2013 release.

Metal Gear Vita

Sony announced Metal Gear Solid HD Edition is heading to the Playstation Vita.  It's going to be released in Japan on June 28, 2012.  The console eiditon was released for PS3 and Xbox 360, but also included Peace Walker.  Not sure about an American release yet, but once we find out we'll definitely get back to you guys!

New game from Dead Rising Creator

Did you enjoy the Mega Man games?  How about the Dead Rising games?  If so Keiji Inafune released a statement saying they are creating a brand new game!  Unfortunately he can't release any information yet, but I guess he sure as hell can tease us huh?  He also adds to the statement that "It will be an amazing game!"  We'll see about that once we get more information!

Warface GDC Class Trailer 2012

What do you guys think?

Mass Effect 3 Frame Rate Issues

I'm sure a lot of you are now playing the much antcipated Mass Effect 3 game.  Whether you are or not, I'm also hoping that your going to be checking out our Youtube channel for our Play Through videos.  Anyway, sorry for self promotion lol, but! it seems players are the PS3 may have some problems when playing Mass Effect 3.  The game is having trouble sticking to the 30 framers-per-second it was set for.  It was said that the PS3 version frequently falls to around 20 Fps mark, especially when outdoors.

IPAD 3

March 16 will see the dawn of a new power house Ipad 3.  I'm getting this info from Kotaku, which got it from Gizmodo, but it will be using Apple's HD Retina Display and feature 2048x1536 resolution.

Available in black or white, with a price tag starting at $499 for a 16GB, the 32 GB model will be $599 and the 64GB will be priced at $629,$729, and $829 and will run 4G connectivity.  Epic games President, Mike Capps, is now saying that the IPAD 3 has more memory and a higher resolution than the Xbox360 and PS3 consoles.

In my opinion though, it is only stronger for now, but when the next gen of consoles come out, I'm sure were in for a treat, mixed in with a little pain coming from your wallet!

PSN down Thursday

Its nothing new, Playstation Network goes down every now and then for maintainence, maybe for like a couple hours.  But around 8 am Pacific time, on Thursday this week, just about everything related to the Playstation Network will be shut down til around 10pm Pacific time.  So be sure to get a single player game this week and watch the new episode of The Tester before the network goes dark, unless your patient and you don't care to much about this news!

Mass Effect 3 + Raffle + Keeping Profit = Jail

I was surfing the net when I ran into this story.  As well all know, Bioware sent a bunch of copies of Mass Effect 3 into the sky and people had to track it down, which in turn they get a free copy of Mass Effect 3 pretty early!  Well it would seem that 2 people that had some luck getting the game made a Raffle out of their free games which one ticket would cost $5 each, who ever has the winning ticket wins the game.  It would seem that 30% of the proceeds would go to a charity called Child's Play, and the 70% would go towards helping them raise funds for the game company that they wish to start.  And that is where their raffle turns illegal!  Because of the fact that they are making money, and a Raffle is typically considered gambling according to the law, these 2 guys can face jail time and fines.  These 2 ended up refunding everyone's money and cancelling the whole thing as to not face any penalties.

Kingdom Hearts 3D

Is anyone waiting for the Kindom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance game to come out?  Companies like to give us windows for the most part when a game is going to be released.  Sometimes though, they accidentally let the release date slip right out.  Square Enix's official French store accidentally set a July 27, 2012 release date for the upcoming 3DS title only to pull that date out and put in a release window of "Summer 2012".  Now although this may not be the release date set in stone, it still gives all of us a heads up!

10th Anniversary Xbox 360, Bundle of JOY!

Xbox 360 has been out for a long time now, but I'm sure there are still some people out there that haven't been tempted to buying the console.  For those people sitting on the fence for 10 years now, the France's Amazon.com online store listed a Xbox 360 10th Anniversary bundle which if it comes to the U.S. you can expect it to cost around $350 or $370.  I'm sure your wondering what is in this bundle of joy we heard about.

Well for starters it is the newer model of xbox, the Xbox 360 Slim.  It also comes with 2 wireless controllers, a 250 GB hard drive, 3 months of Xbox Live Gold, a CD copy of Halo Anniversary, and 3 downloadable games.  The games as you can see in the picture are Halo Reach, Gears of War 2, and Fable 3.  If I did not own 3 xbox 360s already, I would be sure to pick this one up!

Assassins Creed 3 - October 30

Its time to get your eagle vision ready because Ubisoft announced Assassins Creed 3 which will be coming October 30 of this year.  For you people that are fans of Ezio, you'll be sad to hear that he will not be the main character in this game, but for don't be sad, we'll finally be introduced to a new hero.  Ubisoft won't be releasing any information on who the ancestor we'll be controlling this time, or the location / time period we'll be playing in, but we'll definitely have that up once we hear more!

Nintendo 3DS $150

Anyone still looking at getting a Nintendo 3DS?  Well it seems Nintendo has dropped the price for you, just in time for the PS Vita launch.  Nintendo 3DS is dropping to $150, and I don't think its a coincidence at all.  With games like Resident Evil Revalations being released I can't help but be tempted into buying one.  But then again I sstill have my PS Vita to look forward to.

PSP games useless with Vita

For all of you who are looking to purchase the new Playstation Vita, your old games for the PSP won't be making a debut on your new handheld.  Sony stated that a North American version of the UMD passport program won't be available for Vita users.  The Passport Program would have enabled users to register their UMD games through the Sony network and then re-purchase them for cheap as a Digital Game Downlaod.  For you who may have gone with the PSP GO, your digital downloads will still be available to you to download and play on the Vita.  This isn't the first time USA was left out, if you guys remember the launch of the PSP GO, users in other countries were able to get a pass for multiple game downloads, just by purchasing the GO itself.

PS Vita Games Cheaper on Network

A lot of people ask why purchasing a game through the PSN or XBL is the same price as purchasing the game on a physical disc.  I mean shouldn't it be cheaper if I'm not paying for the case and booklet?  Well for the PS Vita that is exactly what it is.  Some games will have boxed copies and digital copies as well.  Of course buying digital for cheaper is a good idea, if you have the memory space for it.  Considering you can only buy Sony branded memory cards, you'll be looking at spending quite a bit of money still.  So are you really saving money in the long run?  I'm not sure how many games a 32 GB can hold for you, but I can tell you'll be needing several memory cards.  As for me, there is always a place in my heart for media in its physical form.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC

So I barely started playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 ( which i'll have the review / play through up shortly) and there is already some DLC's coming our way.  What are they you ask? Well I'm not to sure on the exact details yet, but be sure to see some of your old foes from past Final Fantasy try to kill you in a Coliseum type battle.  In the Coliseum you fight the monsters in which if you defeat them, you'll be able to take them in crystalized form and use them in your part when playing your adventure.  There is also talk of branching out the story line with extra DLC that will come in "episodes"  which will probably add some more playtime for you guys who plan on beating this game right away!  And just on a side note, some guy at BestBuy told me that there will be an Assassins Creed outfit for Noel! isn't that crazy! Maybe the next place for Assassins Creed will be in Coccoon?!
Crazy Right? left should be Noel

Prototype 2 RadNet Edition

If you plan on getting a game, why not purchase the same game but with some extra bonuses to go with it.  For pre-ordering Prototype 2 you'll automatically get the RadNet Edition.  Its a similar fashion to getting the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition.  The RadNet edition enables everyone that buys the game new to play exclusive challenges and compete against their friends and everyone else on the leaderboards for that specific challenge.  By grabbing the RadNet edition you'll also be getting some avatar items, themes for your xbox, and unique mutations in game.  There will also be some sort of Super shape shifting mutation that Activision is keeping tightly wrapped up right now.  This edition will only last 7 weeks after the game is released, that may seem like a lot of time, but don't wait until the last minute!

Next Xbox in 2013

A Microsoft Exec says that we won't be seeing another Xbox console hit shelves in 2012 in order to compete against the upcoming Nintendo Wii U.  He also states that we probably shouldn't expect anything until 2013.  But does that mean we won't be seeing anything come up in this years E3?  I can't exactly say since, showing off a new console on the show floor doesn't necessarily mean you have to sell it the same year or the next, but I just hope they don't rush this thing because I feel like there is still some life left in the consoles we have today, except for the Wii of course.

Witcher 2

Has anyone played "The Witcher 2" yet?  A lot of people may be saying no because it was a PC game only.  But no worries its coming to Xbox 360 and it looks just as amazing! So amazing that i'll end up buying it again.  Not just the regular game though, but the Dark Edition (special) of the game. So far the price for the Dark Edition is set for $99.99, but that of course can change.  I tried reserving it at Gamestop, but they didn't have it in their system, so I guess I'll be checking back at Gamestop for you guys, and i'll let you know what I found out.

You can see what comes in it by checking out this Unboxing Trailer:
The Wticher 2 Dark Edition

Super Bowl Weekend!

Its time to fire that grill up and start a BBQ!  Cause its Super Bowl Weekend, this year you'll see the Patriots and the Giants go at it for the Super Bowl Championship.  I of course will be working my day job hoping I get out in time to enjoy the food, and maybe the game, but since my team was already knocked out, food definitely sounds GOOD!  I'm sure some of you are aware of the Madden 12 game, and I'm sure some of you know of the simulated games they watch to predict the super bowl winner.  6 out of 8 times madden 12 has simulated correctly, not the score, but the winner anyway.  So this year according to Madden 12 the winners of the Super Bowl will be...... the Giants!

Resident Evil 6 Demo

I'm sure some of you are very excited to know that there will be a Resident Evil 6 Demo coming out, but I'm sure if you knew that you had to buy a certain game you probably won't be to pleased with the news after all.  The game you have to buy would be Dragon's Dogma.  Capcom will be slipping in a token code with every copy sold.  Dragon's Dogma is set to release on May 22 in the US, and May 25 in Europe.  Now I just watched the trailer for this game and I'm not at all to impressed, I'm not sure if it was the visuals that didn't get my attention, or the fact that the story looks / sounds boring.  If you don't buy the game though, there will be a Beta for Resident Evil 6, but you'll want to be on the Xbox 360 for this one.  Xbox 360 owners will be able to get the beta on July 3, while PS3 owners will have to wait until September for it.  If your like me, you might end up getting Dragon's Dogma for the soul purpose of playing the RE6 demo, who is to say you can't sell your copy anyway.  So what do you think? Since I'm sure there are a lot of you who aren't like me, is Dragon's Dogma worth the price to play the RE6 DEMO?  Is it even worth it at all?  Let us know in the comments or chat box!
This picture looks cool, hopefully the game is just as good!

Netflix vs Gamefly

So it seems that the popular movie rental service won't be offering video game rental service after all.  This of course leaves Gamefly as the top provider for video game rentals, but don't count Redbox out of the equation just yet.  I use to have Gamefly, but it was more of a love / hate relationship with them, I'll either be really pleased or very disappointed.  Redbox offers video game rentals for $2 a night, not bad if your doing a quick play through!

Xbox + Blu-Ray?

So the rumors keep on coming for the upcoming Xbox 720.  For starters we can't be final on the name of the new console, but now we're hearing about Blu-Ray possibilities for the new 720.  I wouldn't say that this rumor would come to as a surprise if it were true though.

Xbox 720 Inbound!

At least that is what IGN has been saying.

IGN 720 Article

So from what we are hearing, The Xbox 720 is set to release in late October or Early November of next year.  It will have 6 times the processing power of the Xbox 360 and will already be 20% more powerful than the Wii U in terms of graphics processing power.  If your wondering what Processor it will be using, IGN has also stated that it will be using the existing Radeon HD 6670.  A different report from Fudzilla also states that the chip may be called "Odan"  and has been in mass production since December in 2011.

Microsoft Points to be Replaced

So it seems that Microsoft Points will be a thing of  the past.  Rumor is, by the end of 2012 Microsoft will be changing the Microsoft Point system in favor of what ever your currency is.  If this holds true, you won't have to buy more than you need or have to buy two different amounts, you'll just have to pay the exact cost.  I can't complain, but would this change force everyone into entering their Debit/Credit card information?  Maybe we'll see some money cards like the PS3 has.  Only time will tell, and I'll report back once I hear more

Resident Evil 6 CO-OP

I'm sure we've all played a 2 player co-op game before, and it was only a matter of time before they started making games where 4 players can fight for the same goal.  If you've played Gears of War 3, the game even offered 5 player co-op in Horde Mode.  But now we have Resident Evil 6, and what better time to increase the CO-OP number to 6?  If you've seen the details of Resident Evil 6 it seems Online Co-Op will allow you and 5 of your most trust friends to fight and survive against the zombie horde!

Kingdom Hearts 3DS

If you haven't bought a 3DS yet, and the Zelda special edition didn't do its job selling this handheld, maybe a Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will finally get you to jump on the band wagon.  This will be coming out in Japan on March 29th, I'm not sure about an American release yet, but if I hear anything about it, I will let you all know.  I'm not sure about you guys, but a Japan only release didn't stop me from getting a Lighting Edition of the PS3! But I was definitely broke right after LOL!

UFC 3 delayed to February 14

Coming out for both Xbox 360 and PS3
We got another game delayed and if your a fan of UFC you'll be disappointed.  Looks like the original release was moved to a more suitable day, Valentines day!  Why you ask? Well nothing shows more love than the love of combat as 2 guys wrestle each other to the ground.  Other than THQ has not released a statement as to why this happened.  But to hold you guys over, just know that a demo will be released this month on January 24, 2012.

Max Payne 3 Delayed

With an original street date planned around March 2012,  Max Payne 3 has been delayed to May 15 in North America, May 18 is set for an international release.  The PC will be set on the 29th of May for North America and June 1 for the rest of the world.  If you haven't pre-ordered the game, I think you'll be able to reserve the special edition only for a limited time, and I think that time will end around early April.  The special edition sells for a big price of $99.99 and comes with extra things like a Max Payne statue and soundtrack.

Do you guys plan on buying the collectors?

Vita sells 500,000 in Japan

Released in December, but only in Japan.  The Playstation Vita has now sold half a million in Japan.  Although I still can't say how well it will do in America, I am one of the few that are going to be getting it on day one!  Needless to say, I can't wait!

66 Million Xbox 360

Today Microsoft releases information at how many Xbox 360 consoles are scattered around the world.  66 Million is the magic number, the kinect was able to sell 18 million units, and with a little under 40 million Xbox live subscriptions.  If you've ever wondered why there are so many kids online when you play Call of Duty, well there you go!

Playstation Vita + Netflix

If your getting the PS Vita later this year and you have Netflix, your in luck .Netflix seems to be popping up everywhere now.  I already have it on my Xbox 360, Playstation 3, my smart TV, and that's not counting the other consoles and TV's I let my family put it on.  But with the PS Vita coming out, I see some use for this service on the road, especially if you have the 3G version of the hand held.  I for one am getting the wi-fi only version, and don't see any need to install this on there, but if you guys get a 3G Vita and Netflix, let me know how good it runs.

Xperia-S

Say Hello to the new android powered Xperia-S.  Now that the partnership with Ericsson is over, this is definitely the first of Sony's smart phone devices.  This is a 4.3 inch, 720P screen powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, and has a 12 megapixel camera.  There are no slide out controls this time around so don't expect to be playing your PS1 games, unless your okay with touch screen controls.  Judging from the picture there may be a front face camera as well as a camera at the back.  If you've ever seen or had a Sony Bloggie, I can't help but see some comparisons.  I got my phone upgrade coming later this year, so I'm hoping this comes around corner as well.  I have no details on price but I will let you all know once I find out.

Are you ready for EVO 2012?

Its time to dust of those joysticks and practice those combos, the game lineup for Evo 2012 has been revealed.

Evo 2012 Game Roster:

- Mortal Kombat 9
- King of Fighters 13
- Soul Calibur 5
- Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
- Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Version 2012
- Street Fighter X Tekken

What do you guys think of the lineup?  I went to last years Evo, I didn't compete though, as much as I like fighting games I'm pretty bad at it.  But I am excited to see Soul Calibur 5 as well as Street Fighter X Tekken in action.

Steam Rolling

It seems Valve is doing something right, as it has Doubled its Steam sales for the 7th year in a row.  I should also mention that they were able to get over 5 million players logging into Steam at once.  I'm a Steam user myself, and with all those holiday sales that they had in 2011, its not hard to see how they are doing so well.  The past year the service has grown, offering more than 1,800 games for its 40 million registered users.  We'll see what 2012 brings, especially with the wait for Half-Life 3.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Demo

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is almost here, but for those of you who can't wait, you'll get a chance to play the game on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.  The demo will be released on January 10 for the PS3 and January 11 for the Xbox 360.  We'll be sure to get some game play footage for you as well as our first thoughts on the game.  If you try it yourself let us know what you think.

E3 2012 Speculation

Rumor is going out after partners of Microsoft, and Third parties from Sony have implied the fact that new consoles are in fact on the way towards this years E3.  Is it hard to believe?  With Nintendo well on its way to showing off the Wii U some more, it only seems logical that the other big 2 players in the industry show some teeth with new consoles of their own.  The news for me in my opinion is a little bitter sweet.  I still see some life in the current generation consoles, aside from the Wii anyway.  I guess all we can do is sit and wait.
